Billed as “the most dynamic speaker in America” giving the very impressive “second most frequently given talk in the world,” Dr. Murray Banks mixes entertainment with mental health. The record label gives a copyright date of 1952, the outer sleeve has 1974 on it, which is just proof of how timeless this record is! I suppose Banks is a precursor to the likes of Dr. Phil, replacing heartfelt intensity with hilarious yucks. Just what you want in a therapist! I have not been able to find out whatever happened to Dr. Banks, though I notice there is a motivational speaker by the same name - I thought perhaps it might be Banks reinvented, but am now wondering if it’s his son …
